Varun Makkuni is a composer, trumpeter, and educator from West Chester, Pennsylvania. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Composition at the Mannes School of Music in New York City, where he is developing his voice as a composer for concert music, media, and the marching arts.

Varun is passionate about composition, arranging, sound design, and music education. His work spans concert music, film-inspired composition, and productions for marching ensembles and indoor percussion programs. Through his creative work, he strives to craft meaningful musical experiences that connect with audiences through storytelling, emotion, and innovation.

As a performer, Varun has extensive experience across a wide range of musical settings, including orchestras, wind ensembles, jazz ensembles, pit orchestras, choirs, and marching ensembles. He performed with the Philadelphia Young Artists Orchestra during the 2023–2024 season and marched with the Reading Buccaneers during their 2023 competitive season.
